While fall this year will be a bit different this year because of COVID-19, you can still bank on a number of socially-distance seasonal celebrations like Halloween and other fun activities. 1. See the Best Fall Foliage in the City
Chicago is beautiful year-round, but the city becomes more stunning in the fall. To see amazing fall colors in and around the city and soak in the sight of colourful leaves, head to Chicago park which includes Lincoln Park, Morton Arboretum, Jackson Park, Millennium Park among many others.
2.Celebrate Halloween
With all that is currently going on, celebrating Halloween will not be like past years and will feel different this year, but there will still be some celebrations to get involved in. So, grab your mask and make sure to pick out your Halloween costume for a fun filled day. Some of the events you can check out on Halloween are Night of 1,000 Jack-o-Lanterns at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Adults Night Out: The Great Pumpkin Glow at Lincoln Park Zoo and Music Box of Horrors at Chi-Town Movies Drive-In.
3.Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Whether you want to bake a pie or snag a jack-o-lanterns, pumpkin patches are definitely a stop shop for fall fun. Get yourself busy by taking a stroll down to the new Pumpkin Patch and Walk at Lincoln Park Zoo or drive out of the city to Sonny Acres Farm in West Chicago, Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch in Pingree Grove, Stade’s Farm & Market in McHenry and Bengston’s Pumpkin Fest in Homer Glen for a fun time of fall activities.
4.Go Apple Picking
Summer transition to fall can be mixed with emotions, but nothing says fall like strolling through an apple orchard. If you are an apple picking lover, take time to visit the best apple orchards near Chicago which are just a distance outside the city. Some apple-picking joints around the city to stock up on are Jonomac Orchard in Malta, Heinz Orchard in Libertyville, All Seasons Apple Orchard in Woodstock and in Kuiper’s Family Farm Maple Park.
5.Plan a Fall Getaway
Whether you are living in Chi-Town or a first-time visitor, there is no perfect way to celebrate the end of the fair weather with a fall getaway either with family, friends or that special someone. With a lot of hotels offering spectacular packages and deals this fall, a getaway is surely worth it, so choose a location and start putting plans in place.
6.Attend a Food Festival
This year’s fall brings a thrilling blend of IRL and virtual dining events to the city. Food lovers can get busy at upcoming events such as Chicago Gourmet virtual demo series, Chicago Gourmet in-person dinner series, Lettuce Entertain You Restaurant Week, Septemberfest at Eataly, Virtual Craft Brews at the Zoo which will be celebrating food, wine and beer.
