5 BEST CHICAGO PARKS TO VISIT THIS SUMMER: hubub’s GUIDE

There’s always something spectacular to do in Chicago Parks whether rain or shine, winter or spring. Chicago Parks are not only a great playlot for the kids but also a perfect place for relaxation, workouts, riding your bike and more. Scattered all over these stunning spaces are conservatories, world-renowned museums, infinite green spaces, biking and running paths.

1.Millennium Park

This is a 24.5-acre park which became an instant hit from when it was completed in 2004. In 2017, Millennium park was named the top attraction in the Midwest. Talk of a perfect picnic spot, a fabulous public art destination, an exceptional way to get your bearings in downtown and take in the skyline and even an ideal place for the entire family, Millennium Park has got it all. You get to enjoy free concerts and movie screenings in summer hosted by Frank Gehry’s Pritzker, The Lurie Garden wows with year-round flower displays and garden walks as well as sculptor Anish Kapoor’s 110-ton Cloud Gate, popularly known as ‘The Bean’. The Park is currently opened from 8am to 9pm for groups of 10 persons or fewer who wear face masks and practice social distance due to COVID’19.

2.Garfield Park

Best known as one of the city’s most prominent parks on the West Side, Garfield Park represents a unique collaboration of architects, artisans, landscape, engineers and sculptors. It is again recognised for its Field House, an architectural marvel containing a grand ballroom, fitness centre, dance studio and a gymnasium. Make the best of this summer with family and friends at Garfield Park which is located in the northwest corner of the park.

3.Grant Park

This is one of Chicago’s most prominent parks and it is home to the Art Institute, the Field Museum of Natural History, Buckingham Fountain, Chicago Bear’s Soldier Field and Shedd Aquarium. The park has wonderful gigantic statues and beautiful small fountains along with the majestic Buckingham fountain. The lakefront has a path which passes right through the park and it is a beautiful place to go for a walk, take a tour, run or even bike. Be certain to have a memorable time when you visit the Grant park and get to enjoy magnificent views of Lake Michigan. Chicago’s annual Lollapalooza music festival is hosted by Grant Park, so if you’re a fun, this is worth visiting.

4.Lincoln Park

Popularly known as the Largest Parks in ChiTown, Lincoln Park stretches 6.5miles down the lakefront from Ohio Street Beach to Hollywood Beach. Next to the Lincoln Park neighbourhood is Lincoln Park Conservatory, Lincoln Park Zoo, Lincoln Park Cultural Center, The Chicago History Museum, a rowing canal, an outdoor theatre and many more tourist attractions which visitors will love. The park provides a skate park and paths for walking, biking or jogging, baseball fields and golf courses including an easy entry to the close by Lakefront Trail.

5.Maggie Daley Park

Whether you are young or just young at heart, Maggie Daley Park is a must see in downtown Chicago. Located in the Loop community, Maggie Daley Park is a 20-acre public park situated on the spot where Daley Bicentennial plaza previously stood. The park has a famous attraction which is a quarter-mile skating ribbon usually used for roller skating in the summer or ice skating in the winter. Kids, tourists and regular visitors can enjoy a giant pirate ship play structure with gigantic slides, whimsical climbing surfaces, rope bridges and the park’s Play Garden. Make it a point to check out the park’s 18-hole mini gold course, which attributes tiny recreations of Chicago landmarks such as Daley Plaza’s Picasso sculpture and Willis Tower. Maggie Daley Park also comforts cancer patients and survivors with messages of hope and love spread among benches. Definitely a must-see park.
